Holiday Hacks

Welcome to the latest edition of “Ask Anne” blog posts where I answer the questions that I get asked the most and I so imagine that they might be on your mind too. I hope you find these articles useful, and that they give you some insights into how you can grow your business services with ease and speed.

Question: I’ve got a holiday coming up and I’m worried about the impact on the business while I’m away, what can to ensure it runs smoothly while I’m away?

Solution: The holiday season can put extra pressure and stress on your business as you and your team take a well-earned break. Being well-prepared will help it run smoothly and reduce the impact on your turnover and profitability.

In this “Ask Anne Article” I’ll share 5 proven holiday hacks to help you navigate the holiday season, reduce the impact on your business and maximise your income.

Strategy 01: Assess Your Resource Requirements

Take some time to assess your business’s needs and available resources for the entire holiday season.

Evaluate your current staff leveling and determine if additional help is required to provide temporary cover or to handle a potential increase in customer demand during this period. Consider hiring temporary staff, or freelancers or outsourcing certain tasks to ensure your business runs smoothly.

If the business is just you, then this would be a great time to test out some low-cost out-sourced options, such as a VA or a freelancer from www.fivver.com or www.upwork.com who could keep things like blog writing, website updates, data management and social media moving along.

Strategy 02: Leverage Technology and Automation

Streamlining your business processes and workflows is crucial to maintaining productivity and income during the holiday season.

Using project management tools like www.monday.com, a customer relationship management (CRM) system, such as www.capsule.coms, or an automated email marketing platform like www.activecampaign.com can all help save time, improve efficiency, and keep things moving while you take a well-earned break.

    Strategy 03: Managing Customer Expectations

During the holiday season, it is crucial to manage your customers’ expectations.

Communicate any changes in your availability, temporary cover arrangements, and delivery dates to your customers. Ensure your customer service team is well-equipped to handle increased inquiries and provide ongoing support.

Going the extra mile to meet customer needs during the holiday season will not only boost customer satisfaction but also promote repeat business and referrals.

Strategy 04: Delegate and Empower Your Team

One of the secrets to business success during the holiday season is effective delegation.

Delegating tasks will not only lighten your workload but can also foster a sense of ownership and accountability within the team. It is also a great way to develop people by giving them new areas to work on.

Identify tasks and responsibilities that you could delegate to other team members well before the holiday period starts. Then provide appropriate training and empower them to take ownership of these additional responsibilities with clear objectives and boundaries.

Strategy 05: Avoid Overcommitment and Burnout

To help lower your stress levels and maintain the benefits of taking a holiday avoid overcommitting yourself and your team before, during, and after the holiday season.

Be realistic about what you and the team can achieve during this period and avoid taking on additional commitments if you are already stretched. Prioritise tasks and projects based on their importance and urgency.

If you do take a break, then be sure to book your next holiday dates as soon as you return to work so that you have something to look forward to and avoid undoing the benefits of your holiday and getting over tired.

If you work through the holiday period, then try to schedule a break for some downtime to recharge before heading into the next quarter.

I hope these holiday hacks have given you food for thought and if you would like to explore how I could help you implement them then please get in touch.

    To your success.
